Pastor Selection Process
Ray, Tami, and Randy comprise Northwood's newly formed Pastor Nominating Committee. They thank the congregation for entrusting them to select Northwood's next permanent pastor. They have begun meeting, and are confident that God will provide the right candidate at the right time. They will inform us of their progress from time to time, but not with confidential information. Please go to the July 2026 Newsletter to keep a few things in mind. Finally, the PNC asks for our patience and prayers because the process will be long, slow, and deliberate.
Liz, Joshua, Bethany, De, and Robin are Northwood's Mission Study Team. Please go to the November 2025 Newsletter and read their mission of learning people, place, and passion at Northwood Presbyterian Church. Members and friends of Northwood completed the Mission Study Survey. We reviewed the draft report on March 28, 2026 before sending it to the Presbytery and Session for their approval.
Here are some questions that we pursued at Northwood’s Next Step Workshop on October 18, 2025:
- We typically think that the church’s calling is to promote belief in God and in the moral teachings of Jesus Christ.
- What if instead we imagined that God had a mission to “reconcile the world… in Christ” [2 Corinthians 5:19] and that each community of faith were called to participate in that mission?
- What if God’s original blessing to Abram was our blessing? That is, “and I will bless you… so that you will be a blessing…” [Genesis 12:2]
- How might these changes in orientation affect our intentions and plans for Northwood Presbyterian Church in Spokane, Washington?
We discussed past, present, and future of ministry at Northwood Presbyterian Church in Spokane, Washington. Interim Pastor Scott Kinder-Pyle facilitated the event, which was open to all members and friends of the congregation.
